Governor makes strong pitch for proper utilization GoAP assets outside Arunachal suggests construction/renovation of valuables depicting State’s rich cultural heritage

ITANAGAR, Jun 3: Irked at “poor” condition at the assets of government of Arunachal Pradesh outside the State, Governor J P Rajkhowa has made a strong pitch for proper utilization of the valuables while emphasizing that these resources must be constructed/renovated, depicting the rich cultural heritage of the State and at the same time, public money of the State must be appropriately used, according to an official press note.

He made this observation while addressing a high level meeting here today to discuss the issues related to Arunachal Bhavans, Arunachal Guest Houses and other State govt infrastructures located at Mohanbari, Tezpur, Lilabari, Jorhat, Guwahati, Shillong, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.

The Governor, who has been paying visits to State govt offices, Bhavans and Guest Houses outside the State during his official tours, expressed his dismay on the dilapidated condition of these assets. He lamented that these assets which should have been useful to the patients, who go outside for advance treatment and students who are there to pursue their higher studies are not being utilized properly.

He advocated that a high level fact finding team comprising of senior officers must inspect these assets and make recommendation to the State govt for its renovation and other necessary action. He suggested that except for Mohanbari office for technical reason, all the Bhavans, Houses and offices must be put under General Administration and maintenance under PWD to eliminate any confusion.

The Governor stressed on immediate posting of regular Deputy Resident Commissioner and other officials where offices are established.

He suggested that assets which are not fully used citing examples of Jorhat and North Lakhimpur, must be used for other purposes such as construction of guesthouses and hostels for patients and students respectively.

He also suggested for State govt IB/ Rest Houses on the way from Itanagar or district headquarters or Guwahati for the comfort of people on long journey. He added that these infrastructures may be also utilized as Tourist Information Counters

The Governor, who paid a surprise visit to the Arunachal Bhavan in Navi Mumbai on 5th May last, expressed his deep concern on the project and called for a thorough independent enquiry into the same. He advised the Commissioner Health to assist the Cancer patients by coordinating with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai and other Deputy Resident Commissioners’ offices while stressing that State has got responsibility in this regard. He also called for immediate posting of a DRC.

Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, Principal Secretary (Personal) Satya Gopal, Commissioners, Secretaries, Chief Engineers and Directors participated in the discussion.
