AUFC edge past BVFC 2-1 in EKVFC opener

SEPPA, Oct 29: A colourful cultural display marked the start of the second edition of East Kameng Veteran Football Championship as Parliamentary Secretary for PWD Mutchu Mithi launcched it here today in presence of a good number of passionate crowd.

In the inaugural match, Arunachal United FC edged past Bazar Veteran FC 2-1.

Altogether, seven teams are vying for the coveted trophy. Other contesting teams are Engineer XI, Donyi Puttung FC, DC XI FC, ATA-XI and 8th Bameng FC.

While declaring the tournament open, Mutchu exhorted the players to exhibit sportsmanship and play skillfully with discipline. Quoting “money cannot buy everything but hard work can,” he urged the seniors and parents to show and guide the younger generation to imbibe socially acceptable qualities and adopt the mantra of hard work and perseverance in order to achieve something fruitful in life.

Elaborating on sports policy of the State govt, he informed that it is an important step towards developing sports in general and a wonderful opportunity for sportspersons to get employment.

Speaking on the adversity of unemployment, he stressed that the State has huge scope for self-employment avenues. In fact, one should not always run after govt jobs which are indeed limited and rather explore for diverse self employment opportunities and start up his own enterprise, he added. Informing on the govt initiatives towards self-employment, the Parl Secy apprised the people of the recently held Young Leaders Connect (YLC) annual conclave at Itanagar themed ‘Start-Up North East, Stand-Up North East’.

Pinning hope that Mutchu will follow his father’s footsteps, Parliamentary Secretary for Tax & Excise Tapuk Taku recalled the supreme services contributed by MP Rajya Sabha Mukut Mithi towards the socio-economic and political development of the State.

Highlighting the govt initiatives towards sports, he informed that the State govt under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu is focusing on comprehensive development of the sector. He added that the govt is planning to tap potentials of youth forces in terms of self- employment for all-round and sustainable socio-economic development of the State.
