PCCF presents solar lamps to CM

Itanagar, Oct 29: PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden G N Sinha presented 200 solar lamps (Sun King Pico solar lamp) to Chief Minister Pema Khandu at his residence in Itanagar today in presence of Addl PCCF (A&V) Dr C M Rao and Range Officer, Itanagar Biological Park, R Flago.

The PCCF (Wildlife) told the CM that solar lamp is a dependable tool for households and businesses to stay brightly lit all night. The solar powered battery has a life of five years and in a single charging it can give light upto 72 hours. Solar lamp has been found very useful not only in urban areas but also in remote and under-developed areas where there is persistent problem of electric supply.

Sinha informed the CM that he was contacted by Yatendra Agarwal, Trustee & Director of EcoSOLUTIONS, an NGO, during 2015 with the proposal to gift solar lamps to Wildlife wing of Forest Department for onward distribution to peoples in fringe areas of National Parks & Sanctuaries. This will reduce dependence of people on fossil fuels in areas where there is no power supply. Sinha accepted   gift of 2,000 solar lamps from EcoSOLUTIONS during 2015.

During the current year, he further convinced EcoSOLUTIONS to give more solar lamps as gift and subsequently got 2000 solar lamps. Solar lamps received by Sinha during 2015 and 2016 were distributed to DFOs of Yingkiong, Mouling, Along & Pasighat, DFO, Wildlife Division, Pasighat, group ‘C’ & ‘D’ officials of Forest Dept, Itanagar Zoo & school students on the concluding day of Wildlife Week celebration, 2016.

Khandu appreciated the efforts of the PCCF (Wildlife) in arranging gift of solar lamps from the NGO. He also conveyed his appreciation to EcoSOLUTIONS. The CM stated that these solar lamps can solve the problem of erratic power supply in remote villages of Arunachal Pradesh.

Sinha further informed that EcoSOLUTIONS has distributed 180574 solar lamps free of cost to needy persons in India including Arunachal Pradesh till date. This NGO is also associated in providing clean drinking water and distribution of low-cost solar cookers in remote villages.

Commissioner (Finance) Ashish Kundra, during an informal chat with Sinha, stated that EcoSOLUTIONS deserves commendation for their selfless services to the under-privileged people.
