Escapee UTP arrested in Pasighat

PASIGHAT, Jan 8: The Pasighat police on Friday arrested a runaway under trial prisoner (UTP), wanted in connection with Dhemaji PS case No 270/14 U/s 224/216 IPC, from 2 Mile area here.

He was working as a Shaktiman truck driver.

A police team led by SP Pranav Tayal raided the location of the escapee prisoner after getting a tip off from their sources.

While briefing on the arrest, Atan Taki, OC Pasighat PS said that one Ratan Basumotary, S/o Rajen Basumotary, 24, village Mahanpur, PO/PS Chimen Chapori, Dhemaji, Assam was wanted by Dhemaji police and in compliance with the WT message from SP Dhemaji the escapee UTP was arrested from 2 Mile at around 9 pm on Friday.

The SP Pasighat-led police team was assisted by SI Tabin Padung and SI Nani Nama. Basumotary was handed over to OC Jonai PS (Assam), S C Das the next day, informed Taki.

Meanwhile, police has made an appeal to every concerned citizen of the district that before engaging anyone as driver, labour etc his/her character antecedents has to be cross verified first to avoid any future complicacies as there are some dreaded criminal/s from across the border who are taking safe refuge in the district/state. As such these criminals also pose great threat to the employers as well, cautioned police.
