Lohit gears up for Parashuram Kund Mela

Itanagar, Jan 8: In view of the forthcoming Parashuram Kund Mela, Lohit Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf has on January 4 last had a review meeting at Parashuram Kund to take stock of the developmental works done by various departments. Besides, the DC inspected the bathing ghats, wayside amenities, car parking areas, police control room and other existing infrastructures.

Ashraf instructed the representatives of various departments for speedy renovation of dilapidated structures and specially instructed the PHE department to complete the pending works in time. Later, he visited the holy Kund along with the SDO Tezu, EAC Wakro, EAC in-charge Lekang, DSP Lohit and CO Tezu.

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, January 14-15, thousands of pilgrims from across the country as well as abroad come to Parashuram Kund each year to take a holy dip with the belief that a bath in the Kund leads to emancipation.

The DC also instructed the administrators posted at Dirak and Sunpura check gates to make arrangements for easy submission and retrieval of temporary inner line permits (ILPs) for visitors.

He reckoned that if these measures were implemented properly, it would not only generate a good amount of revenue for the government but also boost tourism in Lohit district.

Further, he discussed in detail about improvising wayside amenities and constructing toilets for visitors during the Mela. Wakro EAC Dakto Riba was given instructions to liaise with other departments to ensure smooth conduct of the Mela and prevent any law and order problems.
