Awareness program held

ITANAGAR, Mar 3: In a bid to create awareness among the younger generation about employability options available in and around Ziro, the Indo Global Social Service Society (SMILE) conducted an issue based awareness programme (Skill development opportunity in Ziro) at Hapoli today.

While highlighting various trades available under their department, resource person Hage Tatang, Director, Handloom and Textiles, Lower Subansiri district, gave a brief on opportunities on Carpentry, Blacksmith, Sericulture, Weaving and other available options.

He urged upon the youth to be proactive to approach their department for any type of help. He also cited examples of many local entrepreneurs of the area to use their work as a model for the other participants.

A group activity for the participants for their greater understanding on the topic was also organized.

IGSSS project officer Utpal Pegu informed that IGSSS Ziro in collaboration with Department of Handloom and Textiles, Lower Subansiri district will hold one month skill development training on Carpentry, Blacksmith, Sericulture, Weaving from 1st week of March.

He also informed that IGSSS Ziro in collaboration with department of Horticulture, Lower Subansiri district will hold a five-day skill development training on Kiwi Farming, Elaichi and Food processing very soon.
