Leader & social activist remembered on 1st death anniversary

PASIGHAT, Mar 3: Late Tatong Padung was fondly remembered by scores of family, friends and members of general public on his first death anniversary. Hundreds offered floral tributes and offered prayers at the Dadi Memorial constructed by Onoty Padung and family.

Tokbom Perme, a neighbor remembered late Padung as a gentleman and leader who was humble and always willing to serve all around.

Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, in his message to the family, elaborated on various achievements of late Padung in the field of games, sports and public leadership.

He exhorted the family to keep up the great tradition set by late Padung.

Dr Rama Tewari of the Art of Living felt that Dadi as late Padung was affectionately known by family and friends treated all he met in his course of life as ones own and never discriminated anyone in any manner. To him in his unbiased approach to life, all were family in this world, she added.

As a mark of her respect to the departed soul, Dr Rama is conducting two Happiness Programs for teachers in Pasighat area.

Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, former ministers – Dr Tangor Tapak and Bosiram Siram, former Director Education T Taloh and a host of others visited the Dadi memorial to pay their respects.

A disciplined and excellent cadet of the NCC who received certificate ‘A’ from the Dibrugarh based 10 Assam Bn of the Junior Division (Army Wing) of National Cadet Corps, late Padung progressed on to secure certificates ‘B’ and ‘C’ under Senior Division (Army Wing) of the 22 Arunachal Pradesh Independent Company, Pasighat of the NCC.

He also successfully undertook parachute training and advanced leadership course of the NCC. Padung, who was well known for his excellent performance as a footballer, had participated in the Subroto Mukerjee football tournament held at New Delhi in 1973.

He was an active political and social activist of the state till the end. A senior lady of the area feels that in many years to come one like him will not be born and the loss is immense in his passing away.

Basamlu Krisikro, former chairperson of Wakro AS0, Askok Harsihchandre of AoL Bangalore, Ashok Sharma and people of Lohit also offered prayers for eternal peace of the departed dear.
