PASIGHAT, Jun 10: Continuing their protest against setting up of the IMFL distillation plant at the Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok under Ruksin sub-division of the district, hundreds of people led by the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) carried out a protest rally from Asha Lab, High Region to the Main Market, Gandhi Chowk here on Friday.

The WASE members along with their supporters from nearby villages and other organizations like Napali Suraksha Manch, Brahmakumari, representatives from Donyi-Polo Yelam Kebang, Siang Prayer & Destitute Centre and local student organization took to the streets to press their demand that the govt scrap the proposed IMFL distillation unit at Niglok.

The WASE strongly pleaded and reminded the BJP led State govt of Narendra Modi-led Union Govt’s ideology and commitment to fight for a “Nasha Mukht Bharat” as BJP is against drug abuse and alcoholism and now Arunachal being under BJP govt also need to follow the party ideology.

The WASE remarked that due to menace of drugs and alcoholism, the rate of road traffic accidents causing to death, robberies, gang fights among youths, school dropouts etc were increasing at an alarming rate which need timely check.

WASE says, the companies may certainly say/agree not to sell their product locally, but pilferages and bootlegging are sure to happen and said products will directly be available to the youths which will only aggravate the matter from bad to worse. The women folk also raised apprehension over possible wrong impact of the IMFL unit at the same premises where state’s first Sainik School is under establishment now which is completely illogical.
