Orientation training on MR vaccination campaign held

ITANAGAR, Dec 1: A massive orientation programme cum micro plan training on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign was conducted at FRU Ruksin on Nov 30 last for the health workers, ASHAs, AWWs of Ruksin Block and Principals/Headmasters and Nodal Teachers of Govt and private schools under Ruksin Education Block. Two separate training sessions were conducted for Health, ICDS and Education Departments. More than 170 participants turned up for the training. The MR campaign will be launched in 1st week of February 2018 to cover the children of 9 months to 15 years age group.

Resource person from Rapid Response Team (RRT) WHO, Seema Singh Koshal spoke on Measles-Rubella Disease Burden in India and emphasized on the need for MR vaccine in eliminating the disease, measles and controlling rubella infections/congenital rubella syndrome by the year 2020.

She also emphasized that such target can be achieved only by 100% MR vaccine coverage. Technical issues and FAQs were answered by Dr Kadum Jonnom, I/c FRU Ruksin, Dr Nini Kadu, MD (Pediatrics) and Dr D Dutta (Obstetrician and Gynecologist), FRU Ruksin.

Later, Dr K Jonnom spoke on the need for inter sectoral participation and communication and convergence for rolling out a realistic micro plan for the MR campaign and appreciated the joint effort of Minam Taloh, CDPO Ruksin and Tanyo Tapak , Block Education Officer for their quick and effective response.
