Sanjoy urges for safety & security of North Easterners in mainland India

Itanagar, Dec 1: Expressing deep concern over repeated racial attacks on the North Easterners in mainland India with the latest being the physical assault on Gobin Niji, an architecture 5th semester student of AP Goel Shimla University at Shimla recently, APCC president Takam Sanjoy today spoke to his counterpart in Himachal Pradesh PCC Sukhbinder Singh over telephone and urged him to take all possible steps to ensure safety & security of all NE people either working or studying in their state having uncanny similarities with Arunachal Pradesh.

“They fall prey to such atrocities because of their simplicity and straight forwardness, their inborn qualities. I, therefore, request you to extend all possible help including medical care to the victim for his early recovery to resume studies,” he said.

Sanjoy also requested him to convey his plea to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Social Welfare, Child Development & Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, a former AICC general secretary.

National People’s Party (NPP) State unit president Kabak Tacho and general secretary Nima Sangey taking exception to the incident said that it is high time for mainland Indians to treat Arunachalees with respect and love as they are the sentinels of Indo-China frontier.

Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society president Y D Thongchi pitched in to decry the attack as unforgivable and advocated that those guilty should be taken to task to send a louder message “India is one nation, one people’.
