AJF demands CM resignation on moral grounds

ITANAGAR, Dec 6: The Arunachal Justice Forum (AJF) today demanded Chief Minister Pema Khandu to step down on moral grounds ‘owing to several allegations of financial irregularities and other issues confronting the State’.

Addressing a press conference here, AJF president Nabam Tagam told that in the interest of general public, a 15-point memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Home Affairs on August 8 last demanding re-investigation into the 60-page note ‘Mere Vichaar’ written by former CM Kalikho Pul, early resignation of present CM Pema Khandu, DCM Chowna Mein and Govt Spokesperson PD Sona to pave way for free and fair investigation into the case, refund of Rs four crore to the family of Late Pul by Sona, arrest of Khandu for the Tawang firing incident and illegal appointment/scams/corruption cases based on FIR lodged in SIC and in police stations, etc.

Tagam said that however, no action has been initiated so far and a reminder letter had been sent to PMO on Dec 6 for consideration of its demands and doing the needful. He alleged the Khandu Govt has failed to deliver in all fronts.

He further added that charges of irregularities of fund amounting to Rs 10,000 crore have been revealed by the former Chief Secretary by a letter on dated July 24 last but no action initiated till date and added that the same needed to be investigated thoroughly.

Tagam also alleged that several MoU/MoAs were signed without following any standard guidelines for execution of several hydropower projects in the State during the Dorjee Khandu regime wherein there were lots of loopholes and the upfront money was still not made clear by the department which became a scam like that of 2G spectrum and coal scams. He added these things need to be known to the general public.

On construction of four-lane highway in the State capital, Tagam demanded explanation to the people of State as to why the national highway-415 is being constructed without observing the specific guidelines as approved by MoRTH and IRC and Right of Way (RoW) being compromised by concerned department, administration and the agency.

“Where is the by-pass road for the State capital and why the department is not making the Itanagar-Papu Nallah road via Dony-Polo Vidya Bhawan through and Itanagar-Papu Nallah road via Jully not taken up and widened in proper way,” he questioned.

Holding several documents to substantiate his claim against CM on corruption, scams charges and cases of various departments, Tagam claimed several cases are lying pending against Chief Minister and insisted he steps down on moral grounds failing which the Forum threatened to launch a democratic movement.

The AJF also demanded the Govt to re-introduce the popular health insurance scheme, ‘CMUHIS’, and re-commence the ‘Public Darbar’ by the CMO, among other things.
