Guv reviews implementation of flagship programs

Itanagar, Dec 30: State Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has, for the first time, held a video conference with the Deputy Commissioners of districts from Raj Bhavan here on Saturday to review the implementation of national flagship programmes in the districts.

He mainly enquired about the status of various flagship programmes in education, health and rural development sectors including Aadhaar linking, open defecation free, connectivity and development of border villages as ‘model’ villages.

During his interaction with the districts’ heads, the Governor reiterated his call that fruits of development must reach the man in the last rung of the society. He advised the officials to be proactive and innovative to harness the best potential available for the development of their districts.

The Governor further suggested for soil testing in border villages to assess the possibility of growing Akhrot (walnut) and Chilgoza (pine nut) in best suitable altitude locations. He informed that certain European countries have developed hybrid varieties of walnut, which will be very beneficial for our villagers as this variety starts giving fruits within 4 years of plantation.

The Governor also asked the Deputy Commissioners to facilitate pre-recruitment training for Indian Army recruitment in the districts so that maximum numbers of youth can join the Army. It may be mentioned here that at the initiative of the Governor, pre-recruitment training, which was planned initially for only two districts, will now be conducted in all the districts of the State ahead of the Army recruitment rally scheduled on February 2-8, 2018 at Likabali.

The district officers, while expressing their gratitude to the Governor for giving them an opportunity to interact with him assured of their best endeavour to rise to the occasion to meet the expectations of the people. They also thanked him for selecting the remotest border villages for model village development.
