Skill training for Vermi-compost producers begins

Pasighat, Dec 30: A month-long skill development training programme for ‘Vermi-compost producers’ got underway at College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF), CAU, Pasighat today. This is the first training of this kind under Agriculture Skill Council of India at CHF being organized in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Siang. The programme is sponsored by Directorate of Aricanut and Spices Development, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Govt of India under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

Inaugurating the training programme, Dr A K Pandey, Dean, CHF inspired the participants for establishment of different entrepreneurial ventures related to production of vermin-compost and waste management.

Dr B N Hazarika, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Pasighat briefed the participants about scope of vermi-compost production in Arunachal Pradesh while sharing several success stories from North Eastern region. Dr M Pathak, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK, East Siang explained about the benefits of various schemes and incentives of Central and State Govts for establishing agro industries.

Altogether, 25 participants from different corners of the district have been registered for the training. The inaugural programme was concluded with the address of Dr Sanjeev, coordinator of training.
