Pitch for proactive response on alleged Chinese incursion in State

ITANAGAR, Jan 5: While drawing the urgent attention of the Centre and the state govt on the alleged incursion of the Chinese army in Tuting sector under Upper Siang district of the state, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has demanded proactive response from both the governments in this regard.

Following reports by local villagers that the Chinese road building team had entered India with excavators on December 28 last, the AAPSU, in a press note, said: “The repeated claim and incursion of China clearly undermined the sovereignty of Republic of India and the mute response and repeated downplaying of such serious development by the Government of India reflects its ambiguity on the subject matter.”

While demanding prompt response from the State and Central governments lest it will cast an impression of vulnerability in the minds of the indigenous people of the State, the Union pointed at the “vexed” stapled visa issue saying “it is a glaring example whereby the people of Arunachal Pradesh have been deprived by the Central govt”.

Voicing its concern on ‘Assam NRC’ issue, the AAPSU appealed the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh to immediately give necessary directives to all Deputy Commissioners to take prompt steps for checking of Inner Line Permit and any other potential illegal intrusion from the neighbouring state.
