House gutted at Mechuka fire

ITANAGAR, Jan 8: The private residence of one Tashi Kochung was reportedly reduced to ashes in a fire mishap at Dongsor Colony, Mechuka on Sunday.

One of the kids of the family sustained severe burn injuries on face and left arm in the fire, the cause of which was not known yet.

Reportedly, after receiving the information, the police team and locals rushed to the spot but the house got completely gutted in the blaze by the time they reached there. Properties including local ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were burnt in the fire.

Meanwhile, the United Students’ Organization of Mechuka led by its president Dindup Kigar handed over some cash to the victim as immediate relief. The students’ body further appealed the local administration to provide immediate relief to the victim.

Plea for giving relief

Meanwhile, the East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union (EKMZSU) appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng district to provide immediate relief to the fire victims of Bulla village, where two dwelling houses and a shop were reduced to ashes on December 30 last.

The students’ union, in a letter to the DC, said that the fire had not only rendered the dwellers homeless but had also consumed all of their household properties including valuable local ornaments.
