Effort to spread awareness on tourism among school students

ITANAGAR, Jan 9: As part of its endeavour to spread awareness on tourism in every nook and corner of the state and to sensitize the general masses about the importance of tourism, the Department of Tourism organized tourism awareness workshops for the students of senior classes at various locations of the state.

The HRD wing of Department of Tourism with active support from the DTOs and TIOs conducted the campaign at schools in various places including Roing and Namsai. In this regard, local tour operators also extended their support as resource persons.

The students were thrown light on the importance of tourism in present scenario and various products being offered by the state besides preservation of its culture and natural resources. Topics like cleanliness and SBM were also discussed, said an official release.

Career opportunities in tourism sector and several courses in tourism and hospitality fields were also informed during the workshop. The students were motivated to pursue entrepreneurship in tourism and to avail self-employment opportunities in the sector.

The main highlight of the programme was Quiz on Arunachal Tourism in which videos related to state tourism and eco-tourism were also shown to imbibe a sense of belongingness among the students. They were also taught on hospitality.

Meanwhile, coinciding with the SI-Donyi festival, an awareness programme was held at the schools of Dumporijo and Daporijo by TIO Duyir Yedi Buni.

She highlighted the importance of tourism and a venture for livelihood generation for self-sustenance in present scenario.
