Floral tributes paid to late Bakin Pertin

PASIGHAT, Jan 9: The 23rd death anniversary of founder president of People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh (PPA) Bakin Pertin was observed at his Mirbuk (Pasighat) residence on Friday last wherein people from different quarters paid rich tributes to the late visionary leader at his graveyard and remembered his contributions.

The tribute-paying programme, arranged by Kepang Erang Kebang, Pasighat Block, had witnessed the dignitaries including Pasighat East MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Kaling Moyong, East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak, former Minister Bosiram Siram, ex-MLA Okeng Tatung, ZPC Kaling Dai, PMC Chief Councillor Kaling Doruk and BJP’s Mebo Mandal president Todol Pertin paying floral tributes to the late leader.

Born on May 1, 1942 at Damro village under Mariyang sub-division in Upper Siang district, Pertin, who later settled at Mirbuk village, Pasighat had breathed his last on January 5, 1996.

He had joined active politics during 1972-75 after serving as founding general secretary of All NEFA Students’ Union (now, AAPSU). He went on to become the first elected MP from Arunachal Pradesh in Sixth Lok Sabha.

He is still remembered and known as a philosopher, thinker and political guru to many contemporary leaders of Arunachal Pradesh.
