Governor urges people to review ‘concept of land compensation’

ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has called upon the people to evaluate their concept of land compensation, which he said, has become a bottleneck to the development process.

Stating that for a society to develop it must be healthy and literate and for this doctors and teachers have an important role to play, Dr Mishra exhorted them to be more dedicated towards the welfare of the society.

The Governor, who visited Taksing, one of remotest border areas in Upper Subansiri district and Daporijo today, made this observation at Daporijo post his return from Taksing.

Interacting with the local populace of Taksing, the Governor said that development will come to every corner of the State through model village programme. He advised them to explore various avenues for self-sustenance through improved farming, cattle rearing, dry fruit plantation and entrepreneurship.

He suggested for soil testing in border villages to assess the possibility of growing Akhrot (walnut) and Chilgoza (pine nut) in best suitable locations, while informing that some European countries have developed hybrid varieties of walnut, which will be very beneficial for our villagers as this variety starts giving fruits within four years of plantation.

Interacting with the youth, the Governor informed them about army recruitment rally at Likabali in Lower Siang district from 5th to 8th February next and exhorted them to join the Indian Army.

The Governor also urged the women to come forward for socio-economic development of the area.

Continuing his effort towards Swachh Bharat, the Governor gave a cash award of Rs 5000 each for best Swachhata Abhiyan organizer, best house frontage and best shop frontage.

Earlier on his arrival at Taksing, the Governor was received by Brig Ajay Pasbola, Deputy GOC, 56 Inf Div and Deputy Commandant ITBP A Deepak. Amidst ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan, the Governor interacted with the security forces personnel stationed at Taksing area.

He said that people of the state and nation have a peaceful sleep because of their alertness.

On his return journey from Taksing, the Governor met the district heads of various departments, members of PRI, Gaon Burahs and Gaon Burihs at Daporijo. He said that with concerted effort of the govt and the people, they must harness the local potential and become self-sufficient.

The Governor said that the development plans and programmes must be based on transparency, accountability, continuity, audit and review for mid course correction.

Later, the Governor visited the District Hospital, Daporijo and interacted with the patients and medical officers, said an official press note.
