Cancel illegal appointments of 19 sanitary assistants, demands Lotak

ITANAGAR, Jan 18: BJP leader and Councillor of Ward No. 18 Gora Lotak today demanded for early cancellation of 19 sanitary assistants’ appointments and an enquiry into the alleged illegal appointments.

Addressing a press conference here at Arunachal Press Club, Lotak claimed that the present Municipality authority is appointing excessive contingency staff in every ward under Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC). He informed that with regard to this matter, he has already submitted the complaint letter to the Chief Minister.

“In one of the wards, 20 numbers of contingency staff have been appointed through NGOs and other groups but they are being kept without salary for last two months.

The civic charge collectors were also appointed through proper walk-in-interview but they are also not paid for several months,” alleged Lotak, adding that “there are lots of task to be initiated but instead of clearing the pending salaries, 19 sanitary assistants have been appointed on a very ridiculous way.”

While demanding for immediate sacking of present Chief Councillor and immediate suspension of Chief Municipal Executive Officer along with engineers involved and to initiate magisterial enquiry against the IMC officials, Lotak claimed: “As per the norms, the appointment order should be signed by the Executive Engineer (Municipal), who is the head of sanitation activities in the field. But the (appointment) order has been signed without maintaining the protocol by assistant engineer which is very doubtful in nature.”

Informing that there is a serious allegation against the Chief Councillor which is under enquiry since five months, Lotak said despite being scanned for the corruption practices by Chief Councillor, another major issue has come out by appointing the aforesaid post when she has no authority and jurisdiction to do the same.
