Voluntary blood donation camp held at Lekhi

NAHARLAGUN, Jan 19: A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at Venkateshwara Group of Institutions and Venkateshwara Open University, Lekhi village here by the University and Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor’s Organisation, a unit of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti, in collaboration with State Blood Transfusion Council and Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar. The program saw active participation from people from all fields. In all, 48 people volunteered for blood donation and a total of 24 units of blood were collected.

This was the 72nd camp (and 2nd in 2018) by AVBDO since it started conducting voluntary blood donation camps in 2012. Earlier on Jan 6, AVBDO conducted a blood donation camp at Aalo which was also a huge success.

Chairman of AVBDO, Ramesh Jeke talked about the necessity of blood donation and motivated people to actively donate blood for needy patients. He said despite the arduous efforts of AVBDO to conduct such camps all through the year, the demand of blood in our hospitals is still very high. The present supply of blood units from generous voluntary blood donors is not sufficient.

Jeke called upon the people of Arunachal to come forward in this noble task and eradicate the deficiency of blood supply in hospitals once and for all. He assured everyone that his team would always be present for the people who need their help and continue to provide their humanitarian service.

The program was also attended by Prof Lalit Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Venkateshwara Group of Institutions and Venkateshwara Open University.
