Effort to sensitize students on ‘harmful effects of tobacco’

TAWANG, Jan 31: District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Tawang organized a school awareness programme on ‘Harmful Effects of Cigarette Smoking and other Tobacco Products Consumption’ at JNV, Tawang under district Tawang today.

Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa, District Consultant (DTCC, Tawang) gave  awareness talk on how tobacco use  is harming different sections of society in particular and country as a whole. How Tobacco is leading causes of cancer cases in India and Oral cancer cases are found highest in India in the whole world were discussed.

Moreover, how increasing patients because of tobacco illness results in heavy economy loss to our govt and that indirectly hampers nations development and how tobacco is harmful to environment also were discussed.

Besides, teaching staff and school administration were also sensitized about COTPA and tobacco-free school guidelines.

Further, the school Principal advised the students to spread awareness in this regard to make our earth tobacco-free, according to an official release.
