‘Strong convergence of line depts can ensure holistic healthcare, improve NDD coverage’

ITANAGAR, Feb 6: Special Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) cum Mission Director (NHM) Dr Tapasya Raghav has said that a strong convergence with all line departments can ensure holistic health care and improve the NDD (National De-worming Day) coverage in the State.

She said this while chairing a State level coordination committee meeting in connection with the National De-worming Day (to be launched on 19th March), RKSK (Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram) and maternal activities at her office chamber here on Feb 5 last. The meeting was attended by members from Education, Women & Child Development departments and others.

She urged the line departments to give their full cooperation and coordinate with the Health Dept in implementing the National De-worming Day effectively. She also called for concerted efforts to make the entire State free from worms.

Underscoring the crucial role played by frontline workers in mobilizing the community, the Special Secretary directed the Nodal Officer (Child Health) Dr Tana Natung to ensure timely payment of incentive to ASHAs.

Dr Natung gave updates on performance status of NDD which was followed by update by Nodal Officer (RKSK & Maternal Health) Dr Runi on status of RKSK and maternal health.

The Nodal Officer (Mother and Child Health) while briefing on NDD informed that as per the guideline of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI, NDD will be launched on 19th March across the State followed by Mop-up Day on 23th March to cover the missed out children.

During Nation De-worming Day, free Albendazole tablets will be distributed in all Govt and private schools, Anganwadi centers and health facilities to deworm all children aged 1-19 years.
