Need to develop work culture: RGU VC

RONO HILLS, Feb 7: Rajiv Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Tamo Mibang said that there is a need to develop work culture for progress and economic development of the region. He called for punctuality and sincerity among the staff without which having separate time zone has no meaning.

He said this while speaking at the valedictory function of the two-day National Seminar on ‘Hill Economies and Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects’ at RGU campus here on Tuesday.

Prof Mibang stressed that we need to understand our problems, goals and introspect where we have gone wrong and need to learn from the success stories of our neighbours and developed countries.

He reiterated that peace and connectivity were the prerequisite for development.

Prof N C Roy, Sr Professor, Department of Economics, while delivering the valedictory address, said that NE hill States are lagging far behind the Northern hill States. He called for NE hill States to follow the foot step of Northern hill States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and sister State Sikkim which have achieved magical success.

He stated that industrialisation is the prime mover of development and we must focus on industrial development. However, we need to establish that type of industry which is suitable for us given our geographical condition, he added.

Every State has its own comparative advantages and Arunachal Pradesh is blessed with high potentials but sufficient amount of incentives is required to translate potentials into reality, he concluded.
