101 ITBP jawans undergo training on yak handling and management

DIRANG, Feb 8: The ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (NRC on Yak), Dirang conducted a three days training for 101 ITBP personnel on yak handling and management in five different batches.

Gracing the valedictory function, S Subramaniam, CO, 30 Bn SSB, Dirang impressed upon the participants regarding the importance of yaks as pack animals in military and paramilitary forces. He further stressed that yak should be properly focused as pack animal so as to improve the economic benefit to the yak rearers of the high altitude.

Pankaj Verma, Second-in-Command, 4th Bn ITBP, Dirang was also present during the occasion. The function was chaired by Dr P Chakravarty, Director, ICAR-NRC on Yak. He congratulated the course director Dr Sourabh Deori and other faculties of the institute for successfully completing the training programme.

Participated by ITBP personnel of various ranks from different battalions covering the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim and Haryana, the training mainly focused on yak handling, diseases, nutrition, packabilty and health aspects. The participants expressed their satisfaction over the training and thanked ICAR-NRC on Yak for conducting such training for their benefit.
