DC calls for proper credit discipline

Bomdila, Feb 8: The Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati conducted a Town Hall meeting on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) related issues at Dirang in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Umesh Panaria, Deputy General Manager, RBI, Guwahati.

Addressing the meeting, West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Sonal Swaroop emphasized that such meetings could help the small businesses to expand their activities by availing timely credit and also mentioned that loans upto Rs 10 lakh do not require any extensive documents/collateral. She also impressed upon the entrepreneurs that they should also exercise proper credit discipline by repaying loans on time.

Two presentations were made during the meeting. The first one was on the findings of a survey that was conducted amongst the entrepreneurs in Bomdila and Dirang prior to the Town Hall meeting with a view to understand the issues and difficulties faced by them. Another presentation on the framework for revival and rehabilitation of MSMEs was made for the benefit of the bankers and the entrepreneurs.

An interactive session was also held for the benefit of participants. A few queries relating to banking services and infrastructure, etc were responded to by the concerned stakeholders.

During the meeting, banks assured that they would contribute their best towards increasing their flow of credit to this sector. As part of the credit linkage, sanctions letter to the tune of Rs 1.3 crore (approx) were handed over to the MSE borrowers by the dignitaries present.

Besides the entrepreneurs & woman weavers, the meeting was also attended by the ADC Dirang, Deputy Directors, DIC and Textile & Handicrafts, and officials from SIDBI, NABARD, and branch heads of various banks functioning in West Kameng district.
