Jambey donates medicines, medical equipments

Tawang, Feb 10: As per his earlier promise of equipping health sector in his home constituency with quality drugs and sophisticated equipments, Lumla MLA Jambey Tashi on Friday handed over medicines and medical equipments worth Rs 15 lakh procured at his self expense to Tawang DMO Dr Wangdi Lama for onward distribution of same.

Earlier, Jambey Tashi along with Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Chairman Jalley Sonam flagged off an ambulance dedicating it for the labourers of the region.

After that, Tashi, also the Parliamentary Secretary for RWD cum SDE addressed a mega awareness camp organized by the APB&OCWWB. Terming the labourers as spinal cord of progress and development, he said one cannot visualize a vibrant society without the working class.

“Their contribution to the society is humongous and the Govt has constantly rewarded them with multiple benefits and welfare schemes on priority, since the inception of the Labour Welfare Board. The Govt under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu has enhanced the salary of skilled and unskilled casual and contingency workers and plans are afoot to regularize them tenure-wise to WC on seniority basis,” Jambey informed.

In his speech, Sonam stressed that Govt departments deposit labour cess in time while calling for stringent action against the defaulters. Labour Commissioner cum Secretary Ojing Darung imparted awareness about the procedures of registration under the Board while Registering Officer Phurpa Tsering briefed the labourers about various schemes and statutory and non-statutory benefits being provided by the Board to the registered workers.

Later, Tashi along with Sonam distributed blankets, solar lamps, raincoats and gum boots to 500 registered workers. Courtesy – Tawang Vigilance
