Lok Adalat settles 180 cases across State

ITANAGAR, Feb 10: Going with the rest of the country, the District Legal Services Authorities across the State and the Itanagar Permanent Bench of Gauhati High Court and Additional District & Session Courts today conducted National Lok Adalats disposing of 180 cases involving the settlement amount of more than Rs two crore.

During the Lok Adalat, a total of 907 cases including criminal, pre-litigation and civil and other cases were taken up out of which only 180 cases, including 85 pre-litigation and 115 pending civil, criminal and other cases were disposed off and final award/compensation to the litigants as settled in the said Lok Adalats were around Rs 2,01,41,283, according to a release from Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority here.

In the Lok Adalat proceedings at the Itanagar Permanent Bench of Gauhati High Court presided over by Justice A Borthakur, Judge, with members Kardak Ete, Sr Advocate General, Muk Pertin, Sr Advocate, Nani Kojin, Editor, Kani Nada and others in attendance, an MACT appeal case was settled between the parties involving an amount of Rs 14 lakh.

At Aalo, the National Lok Adalat held under the supervision of Hirendra Kashyap, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Civil Judge (Sr Division) and Member Secretary, DLSA, disposed of four criminal compoundable cases, money suits and pre-litigation cases out of 38 cases listed on the day.

At the Yingkiong District Court, DLSA Upper Siang conducting the Lok Adalat disposed off three cases out of 33 pre-litigation and seven regular pending cases taken up on the day, with settlement amount of Rs 10,33,851.
