ITANAGAR, Feb 12: The curtains of the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) were drawn yesterday as the beating of bell and clapping of lakhs of book readers and lovers marked the conclusion at Saltlake Central Park, the venue of the fair, last night.

The 43rd edition of IKBF is going to be get underway from 19th January next year. However, the venue and theme country has not been announced as yet.

In the concluding day the exhibition stall of Arunachal Pradesh was jam-packed like previous days which included students of Arunachal Pradesh, Secretary, Asiatic Society, Kolkata, Purnendu Basu, Minister Agriculture, Govt of West Bengal, academicians and scores of book lovers from Arunachal Pradesh.

During the interaction with the representative team including Gyati Tany, S Chanda and R N Koley, the Agriculture Minster said: “I use to visit the Arunachal Pradesh stall every year. The presence of Arunachal Pradesh brings extra flavour to the book fair. It is simply because Arunachal Pradesh is the only state representing the government besides, of course, the host state West Bengal.”

In all, 350 books were sold during the fair, of which Bengali ‘Udita Surjer Deshe’ was the highest sold title. It has broken the earlier record of selling out single title in any fair.

It has been felt by the team that Arunachal Pradesh is now the focus of attention and also the curiosity of Bengali community, particularly the nature lovers.
