Awareness program on disaster management held

BOMDILA, Feb 13: An awareness campaign on disaster management was organized by the District Disaster Management Wing at Buddha Stadium here today.

Dwelling on the types of disasters and the mitigation process, i/c DDMO (HQ) S W Mosobi reiterated that in order to minimize the impact or the probable losses during disasters, one needs to follow the dos & don’ts thoroughly. More than disasters, ignorance and apathy kill people, she added.

An elaborate and illustrative mock drill comprising of quick response, first aid, and security was demonstrated by 4th Bn ITBP Dirang. On the other hand, the Fire Service, Bomdila demonstrated fire safety measures and provided training on extinguishing and fighting fire caused by different agents.

The day also saw the district administration and the district police observing the Road Safety Day at the district headquarters in order to impress upon the people to follow the safety norms while driving.

Elaborating on the importance of the programme, DTO (Tpt) P Sangyu appealed the people to follow the safety norms while driving and to follow the traffic rules in order to avoid road rage and subsequent loss of human life and property.

Police officers including the OC PS Bomdila dealt on the Motor Vehicles Act 1988-89 concerning road safety. Among others, Deputy Commissioner Dr Sonal Swaroop, ADC B Puroik, Dy SP i/c, Assistant Commandant ITBP, HoDs, general public, business people, students and teachers attended both the programmes.
