Governor, CM extend greetings on ‘Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi’

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended warm greetings to the people of the State particularly, the Singpho community on the festive occasion of ‘Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi’.

In his message, the Governor said that the ritualistic ceremony and dances of Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi reflect the treasured cultural assets of our people. It showcases the ancient Singpho folklore and culture. The rituals during the celebration have always helped in building warm social relations which lead to unity in the community.

He wished that the festival further strengthens the cultural heritage and traditions of the State. “On this auspicious occasion, I join the people of the State in offering our prayer to Shapawng Yawng to bless each one of us with peace, progress and prosperity,” the Governor said.

In his message, the Chief Minister exuded hope that the festival would further the goal of achieving communal harmony and unity while showcasing the rich and varied traditional culture of the Singphos.
