Terrorism has no justification: Governor

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Asserting that terrorism, in any form, has no justification, State Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra said that fundamentalism and terrorism have always obstructed the society and the State in maintenance of peace and its march to prosperity.

The Governor said this while interacting with a group of students from Rajiv Gandhi University, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli and NIT-Arunachal Pradesh on the theme ‘fundamentalism & terrorism – a global challenge’ at Raj Bhavan here today.

He called upon the students and youth to oppose fundamentalism and terrorism in all forms, everywhere and every time.

Brig Mishra said that to address the issues of fundamentalism and terrorism, there is a need to change the mindset of the people. Students have a big role to play in this regard. They must exercise positive influence in their peer group.

The Governor, while underscoring the onerous role of the students in State-building process, advised them to work with probity and rectitude in life. In every action, there must be accountability and transparency.

He further exhorted the students to keep the safety, honour and welfare of the country first, the honour, welfare and comfort of the people second and one’s own ease and comfort the last.

The Governor emphasised that with high sense of nationalism, knowledge and innovation amongst the students, the nation will prosper. He stressed that it is the duty of every student to remain focused on academics with positivity.

The students shared their views and suggestions about the good governance, the fertility of fundamentalism and the tragedy of terrorism. They unanimously batted for the developmental initiatives.
