AAPWU reiterates demands

ITANAGAR, Mar 12: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) on Monday reiterated the state govt for early enhancement of workers’ wages from existing amount to Rs 18000 claiming that the existing wages fixed by the previous govt is not sufficient for the workers in this “skyrocketing” price rise age.

In a representation to the Labour & Employment Minister, the Union also pleaded for regularization of existing casual and contingency workers by creating adequate C-1 and C-2 posts in various departments.

Claiming that many departments were adopting the muster roll system causing lots of problems for the workers, the Union strongly appealed the state govt for immediate abolition of muster roll system for the greater interest of the workers.

The Union also requested the govt particularly concerned authority for immediate release of adhoc-bonus for the year 2010-17 which is still pending with the govt.

Informing that after the death of workers their families have no alternative means to sustain their day to day life, the Union appealed the state govt for consideration of appointment of one of the family members on compassionate ground.

Among other demands put forward by the Union include either regularization of ALCs or proving them with voluntarily retirement scheme, regularization of APB&OCWWB employees or enhancement of their salary equivalent to regular staff, accommodation for construction of community hall/labour guest house and bachelor barrack at all the district headquarters, relaxation of water and electricity bills for the recognized workers, granting of separate fair price shops at all the district headquarters for the workers by implementing labour cooperative federation in the state, awarding of prizes to most sincere and hardworking workers according to government of India’s notification under Prime Minister’s Shram Award and withdrawal of existing regulatory scheme and quota system of authorities under Power department.
