Governor exhorts people to actively participate in dev process

ITANAGAR, Mar 12: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, who is on a four-day districts tour starting with Dibang Valley, addressed a public meeting at Anini, the district headquarters today.

The Governor called upon the people to actively participate in the developmental process.

Responding to the public requests, the Governor assured to take up the issue of basic requirements like petrol depot, connectivity and communication, with the concerned ministry.

Referring to his interaction with students on entrepreneurship and self-employment, who shared that loans are not easily available, the Governor urged upon the officials to go out of the way and facilitate loans to the budding entrepreneurs and encourage self-employment.

He exhorted the officials to resolve to move forward and ensure that benefits of govt programmes reach the last person in the queue.

The Governor advised the officials to get involved and ensure transparency and accountability.

The Governor said that under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi special focus is being given to the development of the North East region.

Informing that approximately 35 numbers of state and central government programmes and projects are in different phases of implementation, he said it is the duty of every citizen of the district to ensure that it is implemented in letter and spirit.

Expressing grief and pain on a large number of suicide cases in the district, the Governor assured to take up with the concerned authority to send a psychiatrist to the District Hospital.

Interacting with the district heads of various departments, the Governor emphasized that there must be transparency, accountability, continuity, audit and review and if required, midterm correction. He stressed that there must be utmost transparency and merit in recruitment process particularly in police recruitment.

Earlier, the Governor and his better half of the State were accorded traditional reception led by Yamuna Miso and Jummar Basar, SP.

Continuing with his district tour, the Governor also addressed a public meeting at Roing today.

He called upon the people of Lower Dibang Valley district to put in a concerted effort for the progress of the State.

The Governor while emphasizing on girl education said that every girl child must be provided opportunities to be educated and excel in life.

Emphasizing on new thought process and change in mind set of the young, he said that they must not only be encouraged to get employment but also be motivated to go for entrepreneurship and self-employment.

The Governor said that 1962 should not be repeated and for that there is a requirement for home grown soldiers. He called upon the goan burahs, PRI members, govt officials and the public leaders to ready their youth for recruitment in the armed forces.

Expressing his concern about drug addiction, the Governor said that addiction is due to neglect of the parents and guardians towards their wards and peer group. It is a social evil and people must address it at family and peer group level, he felt.

The Governor, who arrived in the afternoon, also visited the famed Bhismaknagar, 30 Km away from Roing. Acknowledging the historic importance and tourism value of the archaeological site, the Governor assured to take up with Union Tourism Ministry for its promotion.

Later, the Governor met the district heads of various departments. Mitali Namchoom, Deputy Commissioner and district officials briefed the Governor about the State and Central Governments schemes implemented in the LDV district.

Appreciating the “quantum” jump in the number of tourists visiting the district, the Governor said that the three main concerns of a tourist are security, cleanliness and healthcare facilities in case of emergency. These matters must be taken care of to ensure steady inflow of tourists, he asserted.

The Governor said until and unless the government officials promote and encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment, unemployment will continue to exist. He categorically said that they must reach out to the youth and facilitate them in availing loans and schemes under Central and State Governments.

Earlier, on their arrival at the district headquarters, the Governor and his better half were accorded a traditional reception led by DC Mitali Namchoom and SP Sanjay Sain, according to an official press note.
