DA to demarcate boundary of all edu institutions in E/Siang 12-hr bandh called off

PASIGHAT, Mar 21: The East Siang district authority is going to demarcate the areas of all educational institutions in the district and formal allotments to be made to the respective institution.

No further extension beyond the existing Smart City foundation stone compound wall shall be made at any cost except for purpose of education.

Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Limited is to take up school developmental activities under Smart City Projects, as envisaged under Smart City Mission guidelines, prioritizing IGJ Govt Hr Sec School, Pasighat.

These resolutions were adopted during a meeting held at the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner TamiyoTatak here today regarding the bandh called by AESDSU in protest against the laying of Smart City foundation stone at IGJGHSS, Pasighat premises.

Following the taking up of the said resolutions, the All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) has decided to call off the proposed 12 hrs bandh on March 23 next.

A Morang, CEO, PSCDCL informed the house that IGJHSS is proposed as a heritage institution and it is located within the Retro-fitting Area Based Development (ABD) under Smart City Project. He appreciated the concerns of the Student Community and assured to take up development of schools under Smart City Projects.

Tobom Dai, AAPSU general secretary expressed his concern over the reported encroachment of land of educational institutions in the district and called for immediate demarcation of schools boundaries. He opined that calling of Bandh etc as a mean of protest should be discouraged if other means of consent and resolution of disputes/contentions are available.

Kaling Doruk, Chief Councillor, PMC while appreciating the concerns of the students appealed to work for a solution on the matter rather than going ahead with the bandh. He informed that education is a prioritized sector under Smart City Project.

The DC urged upon the Union to extend cooperation in all sectors of public welfare activities besides education.
