Frequent failure of 132 KV transmission line hit State’s central, eastern parts

PASIGHAT, Mar 30: The Aalo-Pasighat-Roing-Tezu 132 KV transmission line which was dedicated to the state by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on 10th June, 2017 last aimed at resolving the power crisis of central and eastern Arunachal has been breaking down frequently resulting in erratic power supply.

The entire portion of central and eastern Arunachal, including centurion town Pasighat, Roing and Tezu are hit by the tripping and the restoration hasn’t been done yet despite 2-3 days passed. It was hoped that the 132 KV transmission line would usher in all-round development in the area wherein students could study well, industries could operate smoothly, give an impetus to tourism and help in safety and security of society.

However since its inception, the 132 KV transmission line has been tottering frequently, resulting in erratic power supply to almost all areas of central and eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

Many senior citizens and parents are getting irked at the frequent failure of power during the days when final examinations of students are going on.

One prominent citizen complained that there are thousands of high tension transmission lines running in all parts of the country, including mountainous and rainy areas like Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Assam etc. Power failures are very rare in those areas. Even if there are failures, they are quickly restored in a matter of few hours. But in the case of central and eastern Arunachal Pradesh, it takes many days to restore faults and component failures. “Why are there so many failures in our state only?” he questioned.

This erratic power supply is not allowing students to study well and many industries are being forced to shut down temporarily as it is not viable to operate industries on Diesel Generators only. Due to lack of steady power supply even mobile networks are failing, ATMs are not working and bank transactions are delayed due to link failures.

The citizens of central and eastern Arunachal are looking forward as to when the Chief Minister and Power Minister of the State will intervene to crack the erratic power supply issue at the earliest.
