PASIGHAT, Apr 1: In an effort to bring cleanliness for healthy environment in and around the village and to teach the villagers on the importance of cleanliness, All Panggi Students’ Union in collaboration with Sibum Students’ Association conducted a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan awareness campaign at Sibum village under Katan circle in Upper Siang district recently.

The SBA awareness campaign was led by GS APSU Mitin Padun and besides many members from the Union and Sibum Students’ Association, GBs, PRI leaders led by ZPM also attended the programme. During the awareness program, the students also carried out a cleanliness drive in which the drainage was cleared besides removing other dirt around.

Padun claimed that Sibum village under Katan circle is a least cared and neglected village while adding that even the circle HQs Katan has no proper road, no mobile connectivity, no regular circle officer etc. With such negligence in the areas, the poor education system is also killing the future of village students, he alleged.

According to the Union, the Parak Bridge over Yamne River which is the lifeline of the entire Geku-Katan block is yet to be completed despite passing of full five years and spending of around Rs 6 crore in the project by GoAP.

Now people of Geku-Katan circle, especially the students are looking forward for development in these parts of the state and urged Governor Dr B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu to pay a little attention to their poor lives also.
