Chalk out a middle path and single acceptable plan, says DC

PANGIN, Apr 2: In an effort to address various concerns regarding the Siang headquarters issue and to devise ways to bring about a meaningful resolution, a meeting of all the representatives of a Community Based Organization, Siang District Unit, its women and youth wings, and members of various students organizations was held at DC’s conference hall here under the chairmanship of Siang Deputy Commissioner Rahul Singh.

Terming bandh calls as illegal and undemocratic, the DC advised the protesters to opt for peaceful means of protest for expressing their grievances while condemning use of violence.

Stating that codified laws are made to keep system in place and for maintaining peace and order in the society, he called upon all participants to become messengers for educating the general public about such laws. As leaders enjoying greater affiliation of the local populace and having greater outreach, he urged them to support district administration as responsible citizens in maintaining order and eliminating any threat to public peace and stability.

Lamenting that such conflicts severely hamper developmental activities in the district,  he urged all present to guide the innocent people as leaders in the right direction towards greater good of the district and society. He exhorted particularly the youth leaders to advise their peers not to resort to violence.

Clarifying on the cabinet decision regarding headquarters at Boleng and development of Pangin-Boleng as twin towns in lines with twin cities of Itanagar-Naharlagun, he assured that development would not be concentrated only in one area but would take place in both towns. He urged all present to facilitate a meeting of leaders of both Pangin and Boleng so as to chalk out a middle path and a single acceptable plan for equitable development with the best possible outcome for all sides.

A meeting on the same lines was earlier held with all HGBs and GBs of Pangin and Kebang circles wherein the DC explained the provisions of section 144 CrPC at length while directing the HGBs and GBs to educate the villagers on these laws.

He also directed all participants as govt functionaries to assist the district administration in maintaining law and order while warning them of strict action for participation in any kind of rumour mongering and other unlawful activities. (DIPRO)
