Slew of ceremonial activities mark NIFCS foundation day celebration

DOIMUKH, Apr 3: The Nyishi Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society (NIFCS), Papum Pare district unit celebrated its 19th foundation day here at Tribal Research & Studies Centre (TRSC), Nyedar Namlo, Rono ground with performing of a slew of ceremonial activities marking the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) chairman Nabam Atum said that there are lots of expectations of the indigenous people from the department and sought cooperation form one and all in the matter of streamlining of indigenous movement of the state. The department shall look forward for the promotion of language, manuscripts and its documentation and promotion of indigenous tradition and culture, said the chief guest.

He urged upon the community members to make good use of TRSC and upkeep it for its long lasting. The asset needs to be utilized as a place for character building and man making centre for the society, he asserted.

State Chief Information Commissioner Dr Joram Begi, in his address, said  that Nyishis are responsible tribe and any irresponsible act on their part will damage the name and fame of the community.

He suggested for demarcation of Nyedar Namlo, NIFCS and Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) activities.

NIFCS president Er Pai Dawe hoped that Atum-led DIA would work for the betterment of indigenous people of the state in better way.

IFCSAP secretary general Bai Taba spoke on the reported boost of indigenous movement and involvement of youth.

RSS Prant Pracharak Dr Sunil Mohanty has stressed for better coordination among the indigenous believers for smooth development of indigenous identity and culture.

On the occasion, Atum was felicitated by the organization for his tireless efforts towards the preservation of indigenous movement in the state.
