Slew of activities mark Lummer Dai’s 16th death anniversary celebration

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: The 16th death anniversary of prominent writer, novelist and state’s doyen of journalism Lummer Dai was observed at his Prem Nagar (Naharlagun) residential compound on Thursday with a slew of activities including drawing contest and musical programme marked the special occasion.

However, the day of remembrance started off with the paying of glowing tributes to the one of the greatest sons of the soil, Luminous Lummer Dai, who carved a niche for himself in numerous fields. Late Lummer Dai’s better half, Nanni Dai led the family members in paying tributes to the illustrious personality.

As many as 40 orphan kids who came from Oju Mission took part in the drawing competition. The first five were awarded with prizes. Afterward, they also partook in a musical programme.

Nanni Dai, who is also the editor of Echo of Arunachal, later gave away prizes to the winners.

Born on 1st June 1940 to late Jobu Dai and late Komsak Dai of Siluk village in Mebo sub-division of East Siang district, he has many literary milestones to his credit including all-time hit novels Paharar Shile Shile, Koinar Mulya, Prithivir Hanhi, Mon Aru Mon and Upar Mahal etc. He breathed his last on 5th April 2002 in a Guwahati hospital.
