Doon Cup 2018: Donyi-Polo girls lift Fair Play Trophy

ITANAGAR, Apr 8: The Under-17 girls’ team from Donyi-Polo Mission School for the Hearing Impaired (DPMSHI), Itanagar, which participated in Doon Cup Soccer Tournament-2018 at Dehradun from March 29 to April 2, was awarded the Fair Play Award and a trophy.

The Doon Cup-2018, the Elite school girls’ soccer tournament, was hosted by Ecole Globale International Girls School, Dehradun where altogether 28 teams from all over India including one team from Dubai took part.

The five days residential seven-a-side soccer championship was packed with fun, friends and varied learning experiences for the budding girls under 17 years of age.

The participation of hearing impaired girls of DPMSHI, Itanagar in the Doon Cup led by escort A Dey was followed by their outstanding performances in Siang Cup, 2017 held at Oyan, Pasighat by Soccer Foundation India in collaboration with Donyi-Polo Mission, Itanagar.

The school management, meanwhile, extended its gratitude to the Dept of Sports, Govt of AP for sponsoring the girls’ team in Doon Cup, 2018 which gave the differently able students an opportunity to play on such a platform outside the state amidst their normal counterpart.

The management also appreciated the Chairman, Soccer Foundation India & the host school for organization of such programme for the empowerment of girls under 17 and give them the break for taking part in the international youth football tournament, DANA CUP, Denmark (23-28 July, 2018) and FIFA Women’s World Cup, 2027.
