Karbak calls for documentation of cultural heritage

AALO, Apr 8: Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs Nyamar Karbak while gracing the Mopin celebration at Gumin Kiin here on April 6 said that the festival always expose our rich age-old culture to give us a distinct identity and every member of the society irrespective of religious affiliations should take pride to celebrate it.

This age-old culture needs proper documentation and preservation for future generations, the chief guest said, adding that the festival should serve as a platform to bring oneness, mutual trust, goodwill and understanding among various communities.

DLR&SO Takam Titus, who was the guest of honour, said that the festival which is celebrated in many moods is reaching new heights every year due to effort put together by the organizing committee and exhorted young generation to keep interest in our own culture.

CMCC president Doli Lollen and secretary Er Gemar Padu gave detailed deliberations on history and mythological aspects of Mopin festival and called upon the participating members to rise above social taboo to take keen part in such celebration.

Mopin was also celebrated at Siang Sadan, the official residence of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan. Members of Central Mopin Festival Celebration Committee, Popir parties and HoDs of the department also took part in the celebration. (DIPRO)
