LIVING FOR A CAUSE!

LIVING FOR A CAUSE!

It might sound filmy if we say that a person “one man army” single-handily is trying to overcome the taboos related to blood transfusion in the Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. But this is what Ramesh Jeke has been doing for the past 10 years with his two NGOs, namely, Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti and Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization.

Ramesh Jeke aka Khunwala was in the third year of NDA when he saw that a child die of blood loss as none was ready to donate him blood. This caused a huge change in his mindset and he pledged to change the taboo that was present within the many tribes of Arunachal that blood transfusion is a deed. For this surge, he first found the NGO, Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti. Some of the sectors on which this NGO worked were last rites of unclaimed dead bodies, helping abandoned mothers, helping orphans either by giving financial support or in case of moral support, and blood donation. Later on, he created Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization so to have a focused workforce for blood donation and to spread awareness within masses.

He is one of the very few personalities that we have met with, who has given every second of his life for other’s welfare. A man filled with confidence and splendid motivation, we are among many others whom he motivated to live for a cause and to do such social works for the greater good and for inner satisfaction. He is one of the minds behind the opening of blood banks in 13 districts of Arunachal. But the sad part is that the government is not at all supportive of the works he had been doing whether it is about donations or some other support and hence had to face a lot. We have seen the hardship and dark days he has been through and so we appeal the state government to provide his organizations with an upper hand so that through these organizations he could enlighten the lives of several others.
