‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ program under way

ITANAGAR, Apr 9: Around 40 students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Agra region have joined their counterparts at KV No. 1, Itanagar to participate in the five-day cultural exchange programme under ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme, starting from Monday.

‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ is an initiative mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October, 2015 commemorating the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The objective of the programme is to celebrate the unity in diversity of nation and to maintain and strengthen the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bond between the people of the country. It is a unique cultural exchange programme.

Gracing the inaugural function as the chief guest, Secretary Education, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh cum Chairperson, Vidyalaya Management Committee, KV No. 1 Itanagar, Madhu Rani Teotia spoke about the unique culture of Arunachal Pradesh.

She urged the visiting students to explore Northeast region as it is inhabited by simple and loving people with its unique culture, dress, rituals, customs and traditions. Introducing herself as a proud alumnus of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Teotia remarked that any student associated with KV will definitely shine in life.

Earlier, the Principal of the host school, Raj Kumar Katariya and the students welcomed the chief guest and the delegation from Agra with colorful presentations of tribal dances of Arunachal Pradesh.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
