Governor, CM extend greetings on Pongtu festival

ITANAGAR, Apr 10: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has extended his best wishes to the people of the State in general and to the Tutsa community in particular on the auspicious occasion of Pongtu festival.

He expressed hope that the festival will usher in peace, happiness and prosperity for all.

In his festival message, the Governor said that Pongtu, the agricultural festival of the Tutsa tribe of Changlang and Tirap districts, is celebrated after the harvesting of millet and before the onset of rainy season, andd to invoke the almighty for a happy and prosperous New Year. I trust the celebration this year will bring the blessings of Almighty for bumper harvest and security of the crops against damages and natural calamities, he added.

I join my Tutsa brethrens in offering prayers to Supreme God Rangkathok for his choicest blessings to us all, the Governor said.

In a separate message, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the festive occasion of Pongtu.

Extending greetings to the members of the Tutsa community, Khandu reiterated his call for all to join the celebration irrespective of community and religion.

“Festivals not only preserve our rich and distinct culture but also play a pivotal role in strengthening the bond between different communities of our distinct state,” he said.

The Chief Minister prayed to the almighty for peace, prosperity and happiness for people of the state.
