KGBV Wakro students visit Mipi Pene Centre

ROING, Apr 11: The students of KGBV Wakro made a visit to Mipi Pene Centre (Roing), conceptualized by Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi, which is apparently going to contribute immensely in preserving the great Idu culture.

The rural students were deeply touched when the parliamentarian drove down to the MPC and volunteered to educate the daughters about the centre. He spent time explaining about the numerous panels on display and the facilities created in the centre, while closely interacting with the students. They went around the meticulously planned centre which is fully equipped in providing easy guidance about the land and the people with their practices, even for a newcomer to fully understand by going through the briefs in the impressive panels arranged on the walls of a well lit room.

The films that can be screened on the dual LCDs only add to the ease of learning. The centre has a hall for live performances by the Igus (Idu priest) and plan is in place to accommodate young learners who are keen to grow as custodians of the Idu land and culture by learning the ways of the Igus through direct contact with them and receiving training from the Igus.

The visiting team expressed hope that this “pioneering” initiative of Mithi will spread to more places in the region in preserving the numerous rich and vibrant traditions that exist.

The KGBV students also visited the RIWATCH museum at Khinjili. The children earlier also visited the ancient remains of fort at Bhismaknagar, which is a protected monument.
