DyCM urges for face-lifting Potin-Pangin road

ITANAGAR, Apr 12: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein while taking serious cognizance of the deteriorating condition of the 407Km Potin-Pangin stretch of Trans-Arunachal Highway instructed the Chief Engineer of PWD (Highway) for immediate re-tendering for repair & maintenance work of Phase-I (97 Km) Pai-Pine Groove, Daporijo-Dumporijo & Bame-Pangin roads and also tendering of the Phase-II (254 km) from Ziro-Daporijo and Dumporijo-Bame sections including road under Kamle district (137.315 Km).

As the working season is running out, Mein, also the Minister in-charge of PWD, who had an urgent meeting with PWD (Highway) Chief Engineer Toli Basar, PWD (Survey, Investigation, Design & Planning) CE Atop Lego and Executive Engineer (Highway) B Pelen in his Civil Secretariat office here today, asked the department to complete the tendering process within this month, so that the repair & maintenance works can be completed before the onset of monsoon.

He, however, asked to take up the repair and maintenance works in those places where the roads are in very bad shape to make it at least convenient for traffic movement as this portion of road from Potin to Pangin has taken over by MoRT&H and will be re-constructed by the Ministry soon.

He also asked the department to carry out repair and maintenance of the bridge over Subansiri river in Upper Subansiri district which was reported to be in a bad shape.

When asked by the DyCM on inordinate delay in carrying out repair & maintenance work, Er Basar informed that the NIT for the works were earlier invited on March 9 last and technical bids opened on March 28 but due to non-responsiveness, the tenders were cancelled. He, however, informed that the re-tendering process is in progress and assured to complete it within this month.
