State BJP joins nationwide hunger strike to protest Parliament washout

ITANAGAR, Apr 12: Joining the party’s nationwide protest against the recent washout of Budget session of Parliament allegedly by the Opposition parties, the members and leaders of Arunachal Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party staged a 10-hour hunger strike at the IG Park lawn tennis ground here today.

Joining the sit-in along with his ministerial colleagues, parliamentary secretaries and MLAs, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein condemned the Opposition parties for derailing the proceedings of the Parliament.

“Many important policies might have been taken by the BJP-led NDA Govt at the Centre if the proceedings of the Parliament would not have derailed. Such act from the Opposition Bench is uncalled for and we strongly condemn it,” the BJP leader said.

Accusing the Opposition parties of making ‘delaying tactics’ to spoil the development in the country, he said crores of rupees had been lost because of the disruption of the Parliament.

State BJP president Tapir Gao said that today’s democratic protest was just to give a message to the common public against the ‘misdeed’ of the Opposition parties in the Parliament.

“The (House) disruption was against the nation and its development. It was just a childish act of the Opposition Congress and its partners to tarnish the rising image of PM Modi,” Gao alleged.

He said the party workers are ready to give a befitting fight with the Opposition parties during upcoming Assembly elections in different states.

“They (Opposition) have got no other option to resist their (BJP) win and only chose Parliament disruption as last resort to protest against the Govt,” he added.

BJP vice president Tame Phassang commented that this movement will bring justice to the BJP in days to come.

The protest was also participated by the rank and file of the party and in various districts of the State.
