Bid to develop Mikong as model village under SAGY

PASIGHAT, Apr 16: Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering and local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture & Fisheries, Tatung Jamoh today attended a meeting organized here at Mikong Dere (community Hall) for development of Mikong village under Ruksin sub-division of East Siang district as a model village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

“We must all work together with collective effort to achieve the goal of model village under SAGY to develop and create sustainable amenities and infrastructures, focus on social sectors viz health, education and livelihood opportunities” Ering said while highlighting the vision for development of the model village under Central Programme, SAGY.

Ering, who chaired the meeting, said that sustainable amenities and infrastructures in terms of rural roads, 100% ODF, proper drainage, clean potable water supply and other facilities can be created along with upgraded infrastructures.

He said that the progress of the implementation will be keenly monitored.

Earlier, Jamoh also urged for active support of the village community and proactive efforts of the development departments for successful implementation of SAGY for Mikong village.

He stressed on creating quality infrastructures and amenities for sustainable growth as they are common assets of the village.

The local MLA also urged upon the village members to come forward for Aadhar enrollment to avail the welfare schemes extended to people including senior citizens and students.

On pleas for posting of medical officer at Mikong sub-centre and subject teachers, he assured to take up on the matter at the earliest.

East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak urged the PRIs to play a lead role to achieve the status of a model village under SAGY. On the occasion, he informed about the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, which is an outreach campaign launched by the Government of India to ensure and facilitate rural people to avail the benefits of the social welfare programmes during the 21 day campaign from April 14 to May 5 next.

HoDs of various departments including Education, Health, Veterinary &

Animal Husbandry, ICDS, Power, PHE, Tourism and Industries among others highlighted several schemes of their respective departments and urged to avail the benefits.

DDSE J Yirang, urged for opening bank accounts and Aadhar cards for availing free textbooks, MDM, uniforms and informed about schemes for promoting education of the girl child under Education department. (DIPRO)
