Free medical camp benefits scores of villagers

ITANAGAR, Apr 17: Altogether, 75 villagers could avail the benefit of one-day free medical civic action camp organized by the 12 Bn NDRF, Itanagar at Kokila under Balijan circle of Papum Pare district on Tuesday.

During the camp, experienced doctors provided free consultation and medicines to the patients. Blood pressure checkup and other general tests such as gastric, common flu, cough, joint pain, skins infection etc were conducted and free medicines distributed during the day-long free medical camp.

The 75 patients included 36 females, 32 males and seven children.

Interacting with the media persons, Dr G M Sharma, who led the NDRF medical team, informed that generally NDRF team conducts such medical camp during the time of disaster. But whenever there is free time we try to conduct such kind of medical camp to create awareness among the people about various diseases and its preventions, he added.

Through this kind of medical camp we are trying to provide training/awareness to the people so that they can protect themselves and face the disaster/seasonal borne diseases, said Dr Sharman adding that also this kind of camp helps in forming strong relationship with the local people which is beneficial during needy time.

“Till date three such medical camps have been conducted and the local responses are very positive,” he informed while disclosing that the 12 Bn NDRF, Itanagar shifting its base from its temporary site Doimukh to Hollongi.

One of the female beneficiaries while expressing happiness over the free medical camp thanked the NDRF team for helping the poor and needy and hoped that more such camps be conducted in the area in future.
