1st Executive Committee meeting of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan held

ITANAGAR, May 15: The first Executive Committee meeting of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, an Integrated Scheme for School Education (ISSE) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Satya Gopal in his conference hall in the State Civil Secretariat here on Monday. The purpose of the meeting was to approve the Annual Work Plan & Budget 2018-19 for the new scheme i.e. Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan or ISSE.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt of India has subsumed the erstwhile three centrally sponsored schemes namely, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and the Scheme of Restructuring and Reorganisation of Teacher Education (STE) under a single State Implementing Society (SIS) at State level from the new academic session starting 01.04.2018.

Chairing the meeting, the Chief Secretary suggested for ensuring realistic Annual Work Plan & Budget that would really benefit the students of the State. He called for working out a proper monitoring and supervision mechanism at all levels to ensure transparency and accountability.

Earlier, Secretary Education Dr Madhu Rani Teotia highlighted the background, objectives and the opportunity of the new scheme. She also made a power-point presentation on the achievements of all the erstwhile three CSS implemented in the state during 2017-18 and also proposed the Annual Work Plan & Budget for the financial year 2018-19.

The State Level Monitoring Committee of the Mid-Day Meal was also held later on in the same venue. The meeting was attended by the designated Committee members and officers from the Education Department.
